personal polotic
it's often an unpleasent thing to have to guess what kind of beliefs constitute a person. As a rule, I often try to be upfront and candid with people and I've probably lost a good share of potential friends this way. Ultimately I hold that I'm probably better off with 1-2 close friends rather than 10 potential hold-outs.
I believe:
- that Christ is Lord.
- marriage is between one man and one woman
- children are a blessing
- man was made to be fruitful and multiply and establish dominion over the earth
- that this world is passing, fading away and that the cares of this world are ultimately secondary to building the Kingdom of God
- that the law of God is our rule for how God is best pleased. It is therefore for all of creation and not just Christians to submit to it in right order
- Christ calls us to engage with culture and to defend his Gospel aggressively and proactively in the public square
I have opinions but no firm conviction on:
- when Christ will come in terms of a-, pre-, or post-millenialism
- if it's always necessary that we begin apologetics presuppositionally instead of Thomastically
- dealing with empathetic vs sympathetic responses to others pain
- saying sorry for hurting others despite not being in the wrong
- soft-deterministic free will
I typically:
- practice minimalism with the understanding that it promotes awareness of the ephemeral nature of materials, things, and sentiments
- look to assume positive intent in all people when discerning language
- dress in black out of laziness and simplicity
- am a verbal/written processor. I hope this blog helps with that
